Shampoodles Terms and Conditions

By booking an appointment with Shampoodles Dog Salon Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "Shampoodles"), customers are confirming acceptance of the following terms and conditions:

Pricing Policy & Payments

All quoted prices are estimates only, and assume:

  1. The dog’s coat is well maintained, and is free from knots, tangles and matts.
  2. The dog is well behaved and shows no aggression.
  3. The dog is professionally groomed at regular intervals as recommended by Shampoodles.
  4. The dog is not overweight or oversized for the breed.
  5. The groom is a basic pet trim (other trims are available, please ask!)

Shampoodles offers a complimentary consultation to all new customers to help provide a more accurate quote that is specific to your dog.

Unless you’ve been advised otherwise, quotes for grooms include a bath and dry, brush out, ear clean, nail trim and full haircut.

The final price of the groom will depend on factors including whether any additional time or products were required to complete the groom to a professional standard in line with our terms and conditions.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure customers get good value for money, prices are likely to increase once a year due to the cost of living and increase in utility costs, staff expenses, and the cost of products.  Shampoodles will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible for future price increases.

Shampoodles accepts payment by cash, debit card, or credit card (including American Express).  In exceptional circumstances we may accept a bank transfer (payment to be received prior to the appointment).  Your grooming bill must be settled in full before you leave the salon with your dog(s).

Trainee Offer

Terms and conditions within this section apply to grooms undertaken by a trainee as part of the Shampoodles Trainee Offer, such grooms are referred to as 'trainee grooms'.

Shampoodles offers a 10% discount on the cost of dog grooms completed by a trainee under the direction and supervision of a qualified professional dog groomer.  Only advance bookings where 'trainee groom' is quoted at the time of booking will be eligible for the discounted rate.

For the avoidance of doubt, regular grooms that are booked and subsequently performed by a trainee (in full or in part) will not qualify for the trainee discount.

The trainee offer will vary from time to time depending on the competence and experience of the trainee, and the requirement for more or less of a certain breed or type of dog to be groomed as part of their training.

The trainee offer will normally apply only to services classed as a full groom (i.e. not the bath and brush service, nail trims, etc.).  Depending on the competence and experience of the trainee, hand strips may or may not be included in the offer - please ask before booking.

The trainee offer does not apply to additional services, including the purchase of retail products, creche fees, or additional charges due to coat matting, fleas, soiling etc.

In the event of a cancellation, the normal Shampoodles cancellation policy will apply with no discount.

A qualified professional dog groomer will support the trainee throughout the groom to ensure the finished result is to the usual high standard of the salon.  However, due to the temperament of the dog, the state of the dog's coat, or other unforeseen circumstances, it may be required for the qualified professional dog groomer to take over the groom.  In these cases, the full charge may be payable, depending on the amount of work the trainee has been able to complete.

Dog grooming to a consistently high standard takes professional training and years of experience.  Shampoodles will use their best endeavours to ensure trainee grooms are to this high standard, but this cannot always be guaranteed during training.  As such, Shampoodles reserves the right to charge for any corrections made in line with the terms herein.

Shampoodles may change or withdraw this offer at any time with or without notice.

Salon Etiquette

Please be punctual when bringing your dog(s) in for their appointment - this includes arriving especially early!  If we are attending to another dog when you arrive, please do not distract the dog as it can encourage them to become excited and this could cause an accident.  Please wait for an appropriate opportunity to get our attention or wait patiently outside.

Customers are unable to remain with their dogs during the grooming process (if you’re not local to Nailsworth, please ask for recommendations for coffee, lunch or a drink while you wait!).

Please be punctual when collecting your dog(s).  If we are attending to your dog when you arrive, please wait outside or in your car, and we will be with you as soon as possible.  Should your dog(s) see you whilst we are still grooming, it will encourage them to become excited and this could cause an accident that we will not be held responsible for.

If you are unsatisfied with your dog’s cut, please notify us within 72 hours.  Any corrections will be made free of charge within this timescale.

Matted Coats

Shampoodles promotes responsible dog ownership and we do not de-matt neglected coats.  Shaving the coat back completely takes additional time and causes excessive wear and tear on our clipper blades.  A charge of £10 will be added to your grooming bill.

Small knots, tangles, and isolated matted hair can often be removed without causing anxiety, stress or pain.  Dogs that have some matting often require additional time to complete the groom to a professional standard, and therefore an additional charge may apply in these circumstances.

Sensitive Skin / Allergies

If your dog has sensitive skin or allergies, please make us aware at the time of booking.  We have a range of grooming products that are suitable for specific allergies or sensitive skin.  We will not be held responsible for any pain or discomfort caused to your dog where we have not been made aware of sensitivities and/or allergies.

Flea Policy

Shampoodles strives to be a flea-free environment.  If your dog has a flea infestation, we will ask that you reschedule your grooming appointment once the flea problem is resolved.  If fleas are found on your dog during the appointment, we will bathe your dog in a flea shampoo and we will undertake additional disinfection of our premises and equipment.  A charge of £15 will be added to your grooming bill.

Soiling

Shampoodles expects that owners will have given their dogs sufficient opportunity to go to the toilet prior to attending the salon.  We fully accept that accidents do sometimes happen in the salon and can’t be helped.  However, soiling of the salon that is deemed excessive or requires your dog (or another customer’s dog) to be bathed again will result in an additional charge being added to your grooming bill.  Any additional charge will be proportionate to the soiling.

Aggressive / Nervous Dogs

Owners must inform the salon if your dog bites, is aggressive to people or other dogs, or does not tolerate a specific grooming procedure (e.g., nail cutting).  We reserve the right to refuse or terminate the groom at any time before or during the grooming process.  Dogs that are aggressive often require additional time and careful handling to be groomed, and therefore an additional charge may apply in these circumstances.  If your dog bites or attacks any staff, visitor, other customer or animal, the owner will be responsible for any and all related medical bills, veterinary bills, loss of income, and/or any related costs.  If your dog damages any equipment due to its aggressive temperament, the owner will be responsible for the cost of repair and/or replacement.

We are confident working with nervous/timid dogs, but sometimes they require additional time and careful handling to be groomed, and therefore an additional charge may apply in these circumstances.

Late Collections

Unless agreed prior to your groom commencing, it is not possible for your dog to remain at the salon after the groom has ended.  Customers who are more than 30 minutes late collecting their dog(s) will be charged a creche fee of £5 per dog for each period of 15 minutes after the initial 30-minute grace period.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations hurt small businesses, so we ask that you do try to keep your appointment if possible.  However, if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you must provide at least 24 hours’ notice.  For cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment, including missed appointments, a 50% charge will apply.  Arriving more than 30 minutes late is deemed as a missed appointment and will be charged accordingly.

Salon Incidents

Grooming equipment is sharp, and even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, there is always the possibility that an accident could occur.  Possible problems could include cuts, nicks, scratches, and quickening of the nails.  In most cases this can happen when a dog is moving around during the grooming process.  We make every effort to ensure your dog is groomed as safely as possible, but if there is a risk that your dog could be injured, we reserve the right to terminate the groom.

Unless we have been expressly informed in writing otherwise, if your dog becomes acutely unwell or has an accident whilst in our care, we reserve the right to take your pet to a veterinarian.  By taking your dog to a veterinarian, no liability is accepted by Shampoodles for the incident, and the owner will normally be responsible for any resulting veterinarian fees.

Use in Marketing

Shampoodles may take photographs of your dog(s) during their time at the salon.  These photographs will be used for their grooming record, and may be used in marketing materials, including our website and social media channels.  If you do not wish your dog(s) to be used in marketing materials, please let us know.

Privacy Policy

Shampoodles is committed to ensuring your privacy is protected.  We have a separate Privacy Policy which forms part of our terms and conditions.
